I just followed Ella's link to www.lovinghands.org.uk They had a group of sub targets (ie 200 teddies by X date). I know we have one BIG target but perhaps we could do smaller targets? Like 100 baby booties in spring or 50 funkey toys to be sold in a charity shop to raise funds? Kinda like 'Challenge Anneka'! What do people think?

Great minds Kerry!
I have just received a list of needs from a charity called ten thousand homes in South africa, hats, vests and blankets. They have actually listed the names of their orphans. Am just waiting for some pictures from them and will put the page up on site. I think people will like knitting and crocheting for specific children. Haven't quite worked out how to make sure that one child doesn't end up with more than another. Any ideas?

Sandy, could the people on the receiving end make sure that the items are distributed fairly? I know it's nice to knit/crochet for a specific child but there are bound to be others in the same age/size range as well who also need them. Just thought if they distribute fairly on their end it saves us alot of worry. So we would be crocheting for an "alice" age/size child, possibly not for "alice" herself, that kind of idea. (using a hypothetical name obviously)

Possibly we could put a thread up on the forum & you reply with which child you are making for & which item. So when you get the list I could post it, people could scroll through and make sure no one is already making for that child and then post a reply stating that they will be doing that one. Also I agree it won't be too terrible if we get duplicates because they can be used for other children I'm sure

I can't imagine that people will be very upset if their squares don't go to "Alice", and instead go to "Alex". A cold child is a cold child.

Hey guys, I'm working on the list of kids from ten thousand homes today so Sandy should have it up and available within the next couple of days.

I love the list from Ten Thousand Homes/Villages...it is really itching my creative side to sent a blanket to one of their children. I'll go over there to ask for more info really soon.

Instead of a specific child how about specific age group Babies 0 -12mths garments 2-5 years old garments 5 -10 years and then teens!! You could make summer challenges - blanket squares and hats and scrafs for run up to winter (although whens there winter?) autumn challenge could be knitting toys, socks and blankets squares
Just a thought
