Hello fellow knitters... My name is Erin van der Vyver (I am Sandy's 1st cousin and Ronda's daughter). I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and am the knit-a-square moderator for Africa... If you have any questions related to knit-a-square (or South Africa), please feel free to ask and I will endeavour to answer as best I can...
A MASSIVE thank you to all those who have already knitted and contributed squares to this very worthy cause. It's incredible to see how many wonderful, generous people have responded in a relatively short period of time. We will be in Soweto this weekend (Saturday 28 March) to witness (and photograph) the very first of your squares being stitched together by the wonderful ladies of the Soweto Comfort Club. Please keep an eye out for the pics (which I am sure will be posted to the website early next week) and see if you can spot any of your squares.
The next (and most anticipated) step is to start giving the blankets out to those who most need them. Once again - please keep an eye out for pics and updates in this regard...
Please also visit our Facebook group - Kalai is super-efficient about posting pics and news updates to the group so you will stay 'in the loop' at all times!
Keep knitting, friends.... and tell everyone you know (and even those you don't) about knit-a-square! Winter is approaching and there are thousands of children who need OUR help.
Let me know if there is anything at all I can help you with.
Looking forward to chatting...
Erin
