Where is everybody? Are we all exhausted from the April Race?
I just finished another square with 10-ply wool from New Zealand, and now I understand what the fuss about yarn weights is about! This 10-ply is slightly thicker than US 4-ply worsted, more like Peruvian wool. I bought the NZ yarn at half price from my local shop in upstate New York, and it seems so odd to be sending it back again to South Africa near where it was grown. Imagine the carbon footprint!
Anyway, let's keep going with the squares, my friends! As long as they're 8x8 and warm, I'm not going to worry about the specific weight.
Ever onward.

I'm still crocheting squares! I'm not keeping to April's pace (a square per day) but I'm not doing too badly either. I just started my maternity leave and am hoping to get as many squares done as possible before the new baby arrives (June 3!). I'm also hoping to get another package or two out this week!

Hi everyone, I'm still busy knitting away. I still don't know if my first three batches of squares have arrived in Soweto yet, so I am waiting to see Sandy's e-zine at the end of the month before sending my next batch. Has anyone else experienced this problem. Don't want to make a fuss, but I don't want people's hard work going astray either.

Well I've sent two packages by sea mail so far, and my daughter and I are working on filling another, probably already have enough squares to send, but definitely we will have by the end of this week as we're going on a 3 day trip and can crochet enroute as we're not driving. For the moment I am trusting that my packages will get there soon, sending them off with a prayer for their safe passage. I'm still hooking, trusting they will get to where they are needed. If anybody has spotted their squares in any photos do let us know. I enjoy looking at all the patterns and colours--what amazing creativity and industry!

Hi Poppyfield, so far we have not had news from anyone that their post is gone astray which is great. We would expect some mislaid post as even in the USA they suggest up to 5% post goes missing. But we are just so relieved to report that at this stage it all seems to be arriving safely and untampered with, which is wonderful, Sandy

How fantastic Vortex - 300 squares that may be a record. Just brilliant. At last we have heard about Andrea's baby, no news in the other forums. So hope that you are in the other forum, as understandably most of the activity is now there. forum.knit-a-square.com Sandy
