So come on ladies! What are you working on apart from squares? What lovely projects are you deep into? Whats lurking in your stash that you dream of one day finishing? I'm currently working on a bunch of Ami's. I've finally found a style that I'm happy with and have been making a few commissions and birthday presents. I'm hoping that one day I will have an etsy shop up and running. Here are a few of my new creations!

Very nice, Kerry. Quite delightful toys. How long does each one take you to complete? I have been kept occupied knitting for my 11 month-old grandson. His mum has decided she, too, will start knitting square for the children of Africa.

I can make one in a day. So that's about 4-5 hours crochet tops.
I can't wait to have kids to crochet for. I must admit I had considered making some stuff now and putting to one side to avoid manic crochet rush during pregnancy... is that too odd?

Kerry, those amigurumi are adorable and so well done! I don't think it's crazy at all to start crocheting now for kids. I'm 7 months pregnant and have a 3 year old at home, and while I've made sweaters for friends' babies, I've never made anything for my own! I'm currently (and have been for the past year) crocheting an afghan for myself (a first!). I'm doing it in the harlequin stitch (diamonds) using Lion Brand Homespun. It's turning out great but is very time intensive and after 3 rows my hand cramps! I just work on it when I can and am slowly making progress. I'll try to post a picture soon.

Can't wait to see a picture Andrea! I don't think I've seen a harlequin stitch before I must admit since seeing all these lovely squares I have been considering making a blanket for myself. Its finding the time and money to do it. I find whenever I go out and see some nice wool i HAVE to have it. We've lost half hour living room to bags full of wool!

Oh yeah Sky Cat will fly off your Etsy shelves. My daughter has an Etsy shop, they're very easy to set up and you don't have to have a lot of items to start one up. I think any of them will fly off the shelves, super cute! I love Sky Cat and the Peach Bunny but the flower buttons on the middle one are too cute! All winners. p.s. if your living room is half full of bags of wool I think I'm fairly safe in saying "I bet you do NOT have a cat!" (I know because I've got two and crocheting is an adventure at times)

Jeanne,
Hehe I DO have a cat. She generally likes to sit on my lap while I crochet because as far as she is concerned crochet is nothing important & if I want to be doing something with my hands and attention its stroking her! She's actually pretty good with not eating my wool, not sure why, guess she is just a good girl!
Got my etsy shop up and running ;D only one thing on there (sky cat) though I hope to have a few more in a week or so. Am snowed under with commissions (silly hats!) and birthday presents to make!
What does your daughter sell on etsy? Whats her user name/shop title?

If you click on the little house below my pic it will take you to it If it doesn't its BlitheOddments. I'm in the process of making a spring cat and a chocolate cat, but am also looking forward to commissions I've not thought about doing the patterns at this point. I've so much going on! I suppose if I got enough interest I could make one up These kitties are very close to my heart as the first one was born in a hospital waiting room in Feb while my lovely partner Toby was recovering. Isn't it strange how Ami's can just suddenly form in your hands and become a little friend

My daughter's Etsy shop is "L'Egant Style". She mainly sews purses and scarfs but her catnip toys work on my cats even when they're 2 years old, unlike store bought ones. Kerry your cat is INCREDIBLY well behaved. Mine thinks wool is to kill! If it moves, pounce on it. Lionbrandyarn.com has some super cute Egg Cozy patterns in Amigurumi, for free. Their free online newsletter sent links to really cute Amigurumi patterns for Easter. Just FYI.

Kerry, I just had a thought after reading the latest newsletter... maybe you could include some of your "cats" with your squares for the children. I'm sure they would be appreciated. Or maybe we could buy them from you and have them shipped to Soweto. Just a thought!

Andrea, I had considered that, but I was worried because my cats have small parts and could be a hazard if the children are left to play unsupervised. I'm currently looking at some other patterns that might be a little more child friendly. Like; www.lionbrand.com/patterns/81030AD.html?noImages=If only I had more hours in the day! I'd love to quit my job and crochet all day long!
